Lin Qian

Lin Qian (989–1072) was an official of the Song dynasty. His courtesy name was Hanqing, and his ancestral home was Shunchang. He was buried at Luoyang in 1073.

Career

Lin Qian held many offices. His titles included Zuo Xiaowei Jiangjun, Sanban Fengzhi, Dongtou Gongfeng Guan, Neidian Chengzhi, Neidian Chongban, Gongbeiku Fushi, Zuocangku Fushi, Wensi Fushi and Xijing Zuocangku Fushi. His other posts included supervising the tax offices (jian shui) at Jianchang Jun and Hangzhou, the county garrison command (xian bingma jianya) at Yong'an, the garrison command (bingma jianya) at Sishui, the tomb inspectorate (ling xunjian) at Yongding, and the inspectorate of the four sides of the capital (jingcheng simian xunjian) at Henan Prefecture. He also served as magistrate of a county (zhi mou xian shi) at Yìyáng, as superintendent of the affairs of a directorate (gou dang jian gong shi), as supervisor of the ordnance and armour depot (jian junqi yijia ku), as commissioner of the Guangzhu granary (Guangzhu cang dashi), as garrison supervisor (bingma du jian) at Taikang, as supervisor of the wine tax station (jian jiu shui wu) at Yīyáng, and as supervisor of the salt, yeast and commercial tax station (jian yan qu shang shui wu) at Henan Prefecture. He further held the titles Jianjiao Taizi Binke, Marquis of Henan Commandery, Shangqi Duwei, Yinqing Guanglu Dafu and Yushi Dafu.

Family

His great-grandfather was Lin Kui, his grandfather Lin Baotu, and his father Lin Shenmi; Lin Te was his uncle, and his mother was of the Zhuo family. He married a woman of the Mu family and had five sons: Lin Sheng, Lin Wei, Lin Jiang, Lin Gui and Lin Guan. He had one daughter, who married Zhang Yansi. His grandsons were Lin Zhen, Lin E, Lin Yong and Lin Wei. His three granddaughters married Chen Shou, Wang Duan and Zhang Gongbi. His wife Lady Mu, his sons Lin Sheng, Lin Wei and Lin Jiang, and his grandsons Lin Zhen and Lin Yong all died in 1072.

Friends and epitaph

He was a friend of Wang Sui, Xu Yan and Liu Kui. After his death, Zhao Ji composed his epitaph, Ju Chengzhi wrote the title in seal script and inscribed the epitaph cover, and Li Zhen carved the stone.
